GST Registration Documents Checklist for Businesses

A practical checklist of identity, business, address and bank documents commonly needed when preparing a GST registration application.

Good document preparation reduces avoidable queries and delays. The exact checklist depends on the applicant’s constitution, business activity and premises arrangement.

Applicant and authorised-signatory documents

  • PAN and Aadhaar of the proprietor, partners, directors or authorised signatory, as applicable
  • Recent photograph and active mobile number and email address
  • Authorisation letter or board resolution where an authorised signatory is appointed

Business-constitution documents

  • Partnership deed for a partnership firm
  • Certificate of incorporation and constitutional documents for a company
  • LLP incorporation and agreement documents for an LLP
  • Other registration evidence applicable to the organisation

Principal place of business

  • Ownership proof, rent agreement or consent letter, depending on occupancy
  • Recent electricity bill, property-tax document or other accepted premises proof
  • Clear address details that match the application

Final review before submission

Confirm the legal name, trade name, business activities, jurisdiction and contact details before filing. Requirements can vary by case and portal instructions may change.
